GEORGE TOWN: The state government has reiterated that "heads will roll" in the Penang Water Supply Corporation Sdn Bhd (PBAPP) if water rationing is imposed.
Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng (pic) said he could not accept the statement by PBAPP general manager Jaseni Maidinsa that water rationing might be imposed because of lower than expected rainfall this month.
"Jaseni has been informed that heads will roll if water rationing is imposed.
"The state government wishes to inform investors, tourists, the business community and residents unequivocally that no water rationing in Penang is a top priority," he said in a statement here Tuesday.
Lim also said the state government would not agree to "200-300%" water tariff hike in the state as proposed by Water Watch Penang president Prof Chan Ngai Weng of Universiti Sains Malaysia.
"It is too drastic and the state government will disappoint him," he said.
