Food Trader Charged With Manslaughter of 18 Year Old Foster Daughter

ALOR STAR: A food trader, who was charged with manslaughter for causing the death of her 18-year-old foster daughter, claimed trial at the Sessions court here today.



Sharom Bee Ismail,43, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to her before Judge Ooi Sheow Yea.
The mother of six was accused of abusing the victim who was also her worker,  a Muslim convert Nai Ah Nung, or her Muslim name, Nur Salina Abdullah at a house in Kampung Belanga Pecah, Langkawi  early last month.
According to the charge sheet, Sharom was charged under Section 304 (a) of the Penal Code Bee for culpable homicide not amounting to murder which carries maximum 30 years’ imprisonment and fine.
Clad in orange shirt and black scarf, Sharom Bee appeared calm when the court fixed Jan 29 next year for remention pending post mortem report.
Prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Mohamad Rizal Fadzil while the accused was unrepresented.
