Two Colombian women charged with stealing 29 gold chains and overstaying
KUALA LUMPUR: Two Colombian women were charged in a Sessions Court here with stealing 29 gold chains worth RM49,000 and staying in Malaysia without valid travel documents last month.
Aura Maria Flores, 40, and Blanca Doris Parra, 49, with two others still at large, were accused of stealing the gold chains from a jewellery shop at Level 1, Haniffa Supermarket, Jalan Masjid India here on Nov 23 at about 7pm.
The duo were charged under Section 380 of the Penal Code.
Aura and Blanca were also accused of staying in Malaysia without valid travel documents and were charged under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 (2002 amendment).
The offence allegedly took place at Haniffa Supermarket security guard office on the same day at about 7.20pm.
Both claimed trial to the charges.
Magistrate Erry Shahriman Nor Aripin later fixed Dec19 for mention pending appointment of a counsel.
