Bodies of three sisters missing since Friday found
ALOR STAR: The bodies of two sisters aged 12 and three who were reported missing from their home on Friday, were found in a canal near Pekan Langgar, a day after the semi-nude body of their elder sister was found in a padi field in Alor Senibung, Tajar here.
Kedah Criminal Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nashir Ya confirmed the discovery of the bodies of Nur Izzati Husna, 12, and three-year-old Puteri Nurul Akma at 4pm. The bodies were still fully-clothed and were floating face down about 100 metres from each other.
He said the post mortem on the elder sister Noor Syafikah Nadia Abdullah, who was found clad only in her bra and lying slumped in the abandoned padi field by the villagers at 3.45pm yesterday, revealed that she was drowned.
The three girls were believed to have left their home in Jalan Datuk Kumbar to Kampung Gelam at 7.30pm on Friday.
Their father, Rosdi Rani,38, said his two elder daughters took along their youngest sister with them on a motorcycle to collect their salary at their employer’s house located about 5km away.
Kedah police chief Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim said they are classifying the cases as homicide after all the bodies were recovered this afternoon.
The victims' parents lodged a missing person report early yesterday after the girls failed to return home on Friday evening.
Ahmad said the parents had identified Noorsyafikah's body at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital.
“The parents filed the police report in Langgar police station at 2am after they failed to locate the girls."
The police had brought in the K9 unit and the Fire and Rescue Department to locate the missing girls.
