PETALING JAYA: A pile-up involving three multi-million ringgit Lamborghinis caused massive traffic jams along the North-South Expressway.
The imported cars, worth a total of about RM6mil, crashed into each other and were completely destroyed in a fiery accident at the 259th kilometre stretch of the north-bound lanes at 9.57am yesterday.
Negri Sembilan Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Ramali Arbai said one of the drivers was believed to have lost control of his vehicle and hit the divider.
The impact caused the other cars to crash into the first one.
The wrecks comprise two Lamborghini Gallardos believed to be worth RM1.6mil each and a RM2.8mil Lamborghini Aventador.

Firefighters were able to put out the fire in an hour.
Ramali said that although the accident caused congestion in the area for up to several hours with a backlog of cars up to the Pedas Linggi exit on the highway – located almost 10km away – his colleagues from the Senawang and Seremban fire stations were able to reach the scene at about 10.08am.
He added that there were no casualties as all drivers and passengers were able to escape.
It is learnt that all three cars belonged to Singaporeans who were in a convoy of five cars travelling to Kuala Lumpur.
The three Lambos were part of a five-car convoy traveling from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur. One driver apparently lost control and hit the guardrail, and the other two didn't react fast enough to avoid slamming into their comrade. It's unclear how fast the Gallardos were going, or how close they were to each other when the first one wiped out.

One Gallardo was pinned against the guardrail by the other two, but the drivers reportedly escaped without injuries. Two fire engines eventually put out the blaze, which seems to have started in the rear of the black car, which was closest to the guardrail.

One car was burned beyond recognition, while the other two received equal doses of fire and crash damage. They're most likely not salvageable.
That's too bad for the owners, since the end of Gallardo production means the "entry-level" Lamborghini is about to become quite unattainable. A replacement, rumored to be named Cabrera, is on the way.
Lamborghinis such as the Aventador LP700-4, Aventador Roadster LP700-4 and Gallardo LP550-2 MLE cost between RM1.6 million and RM3 million each.
The Aventador Roadster, with its carbon-fibre monocoque, tops the list in terms of power.
The car is said to be able to reach 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of about 349 km/h.
