KUALA LUMPUR: The police arrested 155 individuals, including foreigners, for being suspected of involvement with the calling center syndicate in eight separate raids around the national capital from September 4 to 21.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief, Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said, the fraud involves forex investment, non-existent loans, stock investment, job offers, online gambling, cryptocurrency, and love scam .
According to him, the investigation found that the syndicate that made Malaysia the center of illegal activities was hiding behind luxury residences.

"We found that this syndicate operates in luxury residences such as condominiums that are supervised by guards and managed by the Joint Management Board (JMB).

"Therefore the police would like to remind JMB that they are responsible for ensuring that no criminal activity occurs under their control.

"While normal people entering this area are restricted, our question is how so many of these suspects can enter and exit these premises," he said at a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK), here, on Monday. .

Commenting further, Allaudeen warned JMB management that the syndicates should not make Malaysia, especially Kuala Lumpur, their base of operations.

He added that the investigation found that the syndicate was targeting foreigners, while Malaysia was only used as a center of operations.

He said, in the operation, the police also seized computers, smartphones, modems, routers and laptops believed to be used for illegal activities.

So far, he said, the investigation found that the activity was not patronized by any prominent person.
