Statement by YWP uncalled for - PAC

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 19 -- The Parliament’s Public Account Committee (PAC) regarded the statement of the Federal Territories Foundation (YWP) that it was considering taking legal action against the PAC chairman as uncalled for.
PAC chairman Wong Kah Woh said the action of YWP was about its report on the sales of land belonging to the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) which was tabled in Parliament on Wednesday.
‘’PAC unanimously, regard the statement as uncalled for and is an attempt to challenge and violate the integrity of the Parliamentary institution
‘’All accusations against the report are totally baseless and PAC had conducted investigation over any issue without prejudice to any party,’’ he told a media conference at the Parliament Media Centre here, today.
Wong said PAC warned any quarter against questioning the work conducted by PAC or threaten to take legal action against the chairman or members of PAC when they were carrying out their duties.
‘’Any accusation or threat against PAC or any of its committee members over issues being investigated or reports tabled clearly interfere with the jurisdiction of Parliament as a legislative branch under the Federal Constitution.
‘’PAC will not bow to accusations or threats from any quarter in carrying out its duties as enshrined under the law of the country,’’ he added.
