BATU GAJAH, Oct 13 -- The cause of death of an Indonesian woman, whose body was found next to a newborn baby at an oil palm plantation in Kampung Piandang, Pusing here, on Sunday was due to excessive bleeding during childbirth.

Batu Gajah district police chief, ACP Ahmad Adnan Basri said the cause of death was identified after a post mortem was carried out at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, Ipoh, this morning.

“The post mortem ended at 1.20 pm. Apart from identifying the cause of death, the autopsy also did not find any criminal element on the body and police have yet to locate any witnesses,” he said when contacted by Bernama.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Adnan said the baby boy was in good health and was still at Batu Gajah Hospital.

The body of Yanti Abas, 35, who is believed to have died five hours earlier, was found by the public in a hut before alerting the police at about 6.35 pm.

Upon arriving at the scene, police found the baby alive with his umbilical cord severed lying next to the deceased and the victim’s body covered with a blanket.
