SINGAPORE, Aug 16 -- There were 86 new cases of COVID-19 infection reported in Singapore in the past 24 hours with six of them being imported cases, bringing the total tally to 55,747.
According to brief data released here by the republic’s Ministry of Health (MOH) today, all the imported cases involve those placed on Stay-Home Notice upon arrival in Singapore.
As for community cases, two cases were reported involving a Singaporean and a work pass holder.
The vast majority of the cases, meanwhile, involve work permit holders currently under quarantine.
In its full data released late Saturday, the ministry said there were about 20,700 workers still serving out their quarantine period.
As at noon yesterday, the republic had classified 800 of the reported cases as imported, 2,204 as community cases and 52,657 as dorm residents.
A total of 51,521 patients or about 93 per cent of the cumulative figure of cases have fully recovered from the infection and been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.
Meanwhile, 83 confirmed cases are still in hospital but none in the intensive care unit.
A total of 4,030 patients who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still tested positive for COVID-19, have been isolated and cared for at community facilities.
To date, 27 people have died from complications due to COVID-19 in the republic.
No new cluster was identified yesterday, and four more clusters have been closed.
