KUALA LUMPUR, April 26 — Barisan Nasional (BN) secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said he has instructed MyPPP’s discliplinary board to take action against former president Tan Sri M. Kayveas for causing unrest within the coalition.

“I told them that action will be taken against any issues which arise that could threaten the inter-party spirit. But if Kayveas wants to resign it is his choice. He may have felt he was in the wrong,” he told reporters after an excellence awards ceremony at YPC College today.

Saying that he did not know the reason for Kayveas’s resignation from the party, Tengku Adnan said he had sent letters to all BN component parties including Umno to caution against such conduct.

Yesterday, Kayveas announced on his Facebook page and Twitter that he had stepped down as party president, Perak advisor and KL chairman effective Monday just about an hour before MyPPP announced his sacking at a sudden press conference.

At the press conference, MyPPP secretary-general Datuk Mohan Kandasamy said Kayveas was sacked prior to his resignation on grounds that his actions were considered to be damaging to the party.

Kayveas had threatened to quit BN, after voicing his dissatisfaction at the Cameron Highlands seat being allocated to MIC.

It was reported that the letter that issued by Tengku Adnan called for disciplinary against Kayveas for actions regarding seat allocation, which violated MyPPP’s constitution. According to deputy secretary-general Simon Sabapathy, the letter also indicated that the party may be asked to leave BN.
