SEREMBAN: Elected Parti Keadilan Rakyat GE14 candidates will be slapped with a RM10mil fine if they "jump ship" after winning their respective seats.

Negri Sembilan PKR chief Aminuddin Harun (pic) said those who were given their candidate appointment letters by president Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail had to sign a legal document to that effect.

"In the last election, the fine was RM5mil. It is higher this time because we expect a closer fight," he said here after introducing nine PKR candidates on Tuesday.

Aminuddin will defend the Sikamat state seat, which he has held for the past two terms.

Joining him is M. Ravi, also a two-term assemblyman for Port Dickson (now known as Seri Tanjung).

However, two-term Chuah assemblyman Chai Tong Chai was dropped.

He will be replaced by Teluk Kemang Pakatan deputy chairman Michael Yek Diew Ching, a newcomer.

The other candidates are Dr Streram Sinnasamy (Rantau), Rusli Abdullah (Linggi), Zainal Fikri Abd Kadir (Sg Lui), Baharuddin Siri (Gemas), Ismail Ahmad (Labu), S. Musliadi Sabtu (Jeram Padang), Dr Mohamad Rafie Ab Malek (Ampangan), Rosli Omar (Juasseh) and Mohamad Nazaruddin Sabtu (Pilah).

Save for Rosli and Mohamad Nazaruddin, the rest are new faces.

There are 36 seats in the Negri assembly.

Other Pakatan Harapan parties contesting are DAP (11 seats), Amanah (seven) and Parti Pribumi Bersatu (six).

Teluk Kemang PKR deputy chief Rosman Jonet will contest the Port Dickson parliamentary (previously known as Teluk Kemang) seat.

Rosman had contested the Linggi state seat in 2013 but was defeated.

As for the Rembau parliamentary seat, the party will field a fresh face in Lt Kol (Rtd) Roseli Abdul Ghani.

State Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia chief Baharuddin Ahmad, was supposed to announce the names of the party's candidates, but said it had to be deferred due to technical reasons.

Pribumi will contest two parliamentary and six state seats in Negri Sembilan.
