Pos Malaysia appoints Zainal as new chairman and Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar's daughter as a board member

KUALA LUMPUR: Pos Malaysia Bhd
has appointed Tradewinds (M) Bhd group managing director Datuk Mohammad Zainal Shaari as its new chairman and made a daughter of Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary a board member.The appointments are effective on Friday, Apr 13, Pos Malaysia said in separate filings with Bursa Malaysia today.
Zainal,54, was previously the chief operating officer at Khazanah Nasional Bhd prior to his current post at Tradewinds.
“Zainal’s extensive corporate experience would contribute to enhance our efforts in realising our vision and mission to develop Pos Malaysia as the leading integrated logistics player,” the company said.
Meanwhile, the company has appointed Sharifah Sofia Syed Mokhtar Shah, 24, as a director.
She is the daughter of Syed Mokhtar, who is an indirect major shareholder of the company through DRB-Hicom
Bhd .Sofia joined Pos Malaysia as a special officer to the group chief executive officer from January to October 2017. During the stint, she completed a rotational placement within the organisation.Sofia has a bachelor of science in economics from University of York, United Kingdom and a master of science in development management from London School of Economics and Political Science
