Malaysia strikes gold in women's lawn bowls

GOLD COAST: Malaysian women's pair stunned defending champions South Africa to win gold in the lawn bowls.
Emma Firyana Saroji (pic) and Siti Zalina Ahmad edged South African pairs of Nicolene Neal and Colleen Piketh 15-14 in the final at the Broadbeach Lawn Bowls Centre on Friday.
The duo were the only Malaysian lawn bowls players to qualify for the final.
The 31-year-old Emma said that they were thrilled to bits with beating the more experienced South African pair.
"We have been training in Gold Coast since Feb 19 and all our hard training has paid off handsomely. We also ended Malaysia's gold drought in lawn bowls with this superb comeback," said Emma.
