Klang Valley to face water supply disruption for up to three days next week

PETALING JAYA: Several areas across the Klang Valley will be facing a temporary water supply interruption from Tuesday, March 6 up to Friday, March 9, to facilitate emergency repair works at a water treatment plant.

Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) said the operator of Sungai Selangor Phase 3 (SSP3) Water Treatment Plant will be carrying out critical equipment repair works for a period of 10 hours, from 8am to 6pm, on Tuesday, resulting in a total plant shutdown.

The shutdown will affect areas in Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Langat and Hulu Selangor.

"Currently the plant produces 800 to 810 million literes water per day," Syabas said in a statement on Thursday.

It added that due to this volume, the duration of water supply restoration to customers will differ from one area to another depending on their geographical location and altitude.


The Petaling region is estimated to see a water supply interruption from Tuesday (March 6), 8am to 9pm the following day (March 7).

Klang and Shah Alam will be affected from Tuesday (March 6), 8am to Friday (March 9), 9am.

Gombak will be affected from Tuesday (March 6), 8am to Thursday (March 8), 12am.

Kuala Lumpur will be affected from from Tuesday (March 6), 8am to Thursday (March 8), 9pm.

Kuala Langat will be affected from from Tuesday (March 6), 8am to Wednesday (March 7), 3pm.

While Hulu Selangor will be affected from Tuesday (March 6), 8am to Wednesday (March 7), 9pm.

The housing areas that will be affected in each region are noted in the table below.

Customers are advised to store sufficient water before March 6.
