Woman, daughter escape from burning car near Nilai on NSE
NILAI: Two women narrowly escaped from their car which burst into flames on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) northbound early Wednesday.
Nilai fire and rescue station operation chief Mohd Fauzi Shamir said in the incident that took place at Km280.7 at 6.50am, R.Yugeswari, 33, and her mother only known as Ruekmono, 64, were travelling from Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan to Subang Jaya, Selangor.
It is learnt that Yugeswari, who was driving, saw smoke coming out of the engine compartment and stopped the car.
Both of them quickly got down as the fire spread quickly, burning 80% of the vehicle, he said in a statement.
Mohd Fauzi said the incident caused a 2km-long traffic congestion along the highway.
A team comprising two officers and eight firemen in two fire engines from the Nilai station were deployed.
He said that it took about 30 minutes to put out the fire. – Bernama
