Dengue situation worsens in Perak

IPOH: Perak has recorded a total of 1,223 dengue cases between Jan and Feb this year, an increase of 246 cases or 25 per cent, compared to the 977 cases during the same period last year.
A total of four deaths were reported compared to only one case in the same period last year.
State Health Department in a statement today said between Feb 19 and Feb 25 this year, a total of 225 dengue cases were reported as compared to 175 cases in the previous week, marking a 28.6 per cent increase.
A total of 29 localities with active dengue cases were identified. Among the localities are; Taman Fu Onn, Taman Merdeka, Taman Bercham Raya, Taman Pinji Mewah, Chandan Desa, Halaman Meru Impian, Kampung Baru Benban, Kampung Manjoi and Kampung Timah.
In addition, a total of 10 hotspots were also identified in Ipoh and Kinta.
In Ipoh, the hotspots areas are; Taman Sin Far, Taman Shatin, Rapat Setia, Bandar Lahat Baru, Panorama Lapangan Perdana, Taman Seri Tanjung, Taman Intan, Kampung Baru Buntong, Kampung Bercham and Waller Court.
Meanwhile in Kinta, the hotspot area is at Taman Chepor Jaya.
Another eight uncontrolled outbreak localities were identified. The localities are; Kampung Baru Kuala Kuang, Taman Maju Rapat, RPT Sri Ampang 2, Taman Ipoh Jaya, Taman Cempaka, Taman Menglembu, Kampung Tersusun Sentang and KB Mambang Diawan.
Meanwhile, a total of 30 controlled outbreak localities were also identified.
Among the localities are Taman Hock Bee, Rumah Pangsa Sri Connolly, Taman Mas Chepor, Kampung Tersusun Pundut, Taman Kinta and Kampung Cegar.
