Suspects of botched robbery attempt, arrested
KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested four men following a botched robbery attempt of a jewellery store in Hijau Puchong Perdana Complex, Bukit Puchong, yesterday.
In the 3pm incident, a suspect wearing a jacket and a motorcycle helmet, which concealed his face, stormed into the Ria Puchong Jewelry store and tried to smash the glass cases with an axe. It is believed that his accomplices stood guard outside the store.
Subang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Azlin Sadari said the suspect fled after he failed to smash the glass cases.
Following the incident, swift action by the police resulted in the arrest of the suspects, aged between 28 and 42, on the same day.
The 42-year-old main suspect was picked up at Taman Peringgit Ria in Malacca at midnight. Azlin said the suspect has a criminal record of 18 various offences.
His accomplices, aged between 28 and 34, were nabbed in Taman Puchong Permai, Uptown Puchong Permai, and Kampung Sri Aman, Puchong.
Police seized various weapons believed to have been used in the attempted robbery including a chuck knuckle and an axe.
All suspects were detained under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for armed gang robbery
