A police corporal is being probed for negligence after losing a Walter P99 pistol and magazine loaded with 10 bullets when he slept in his car

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 9 — A police corporal is being probed for negligence after losing a Walter P99 pistol and magazine loaded with 10 bullets when he slept in his car outside a restaurant in Pudu Ulu, Cheras on Thursday.

In the 3.30am incident, the 34-year-old Special Branch personnel, who had just finished work, went for supper at the restaurant before taking a nap in the car.

His car was left running and the doors were unlocked.

When he woke five hours later, he realised someone had messed up his uniform and the pistol, magazine and his phone were missing.

He lodged a report at Dang Wangi police headquarters, where he reports for duty.

City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Rusdi Mohd Isa confirmed the incident.

The policeman will be investigated for negligence under Section 35 of the Firearms Act. The case will also be investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.

The corporal will also be referred to the disciplinary board.
