Jenny Tan, an account executive, was alone at home in the master bedroom when she heard knocks on her door.
“I was really scared. I was all by myself at home and somebody knocked on my door.
“I went under my comforter and immediately called my neighbours for help.
“I then heard a loud bang on the door and peeking through my comforter, I saw two men entering my room,” she said.
Tan said she kept still until the duo left her room. Later, she said she was shocked to see that one of the thieves, whom her neighbours had caught during the 1am incident in Taman Dahlia Phase 6 here yesterday, was another neighbour.
“He was bleeding but I recognised him. His house is only about 100m away.
“One of his accomplices who was waiting in a car was also surrounded by my neighbours who detained him.
“I had called my neighbour’s husband for help at about 1.16am and by 1.23am many neighbours had arrived at my house,” she said.
Tan said she learnt from her neighbours that the two thieves fled her house via the rooftop but one of them fell. The two were handed over to the police.
Kota Setar district police chief ACP Adzaman Mohd Zan confirmed that arrests.
“One of them aged 30, tested positive for drugs and was brought to the Kota Setar District Police Headquarters while the other suspect, aged 38, was sent to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for treatment for injuries that he claimed were inflicted by those who tried to arrest him,” he said.
