Crime scene: Policemen carrying out the body of the 21-year-old cross-dresser who was found at an apartment block in Subang Jaya.
PETALING JAYA: It was a case of gender-bender for the police when they arrived at a condominium to investigate a report that a woman had fallen off the building.
They found the body with a wig and in woman’s clothes.
As it turned out eventually, “she” was a “he”.
The 21-year-old man was believed to have fallen from the balcony of an apartment unit on the third floor of the eight-storey apartment block in Subang Jaya, said Subang Jaya OCPD Senior Asst Comm Yahaya Ramli.
“There were scratches on the body. Blood was coming out of the ears,” he said.
He said a 40-year-old African national, who was staying at the apartment, had been arrested over the death of the cross-dresser from Sandakan.
“We believe that the victim was not a resident there,” he said.
SAC Yahaya said that police who were alerted about the case at about 9.30am yesterday, went to the apartment unit and found the suspect cleaning up the place.
He said the apartment unit was messy but police did not find any visible blood stains inside the home or on the balcony.
It was believed that there was a quarrel between the two as residents heard noises from the apartment at about 6am, he added.
SAC Yahaya said that police were also trying to verify the relationship between the African national and the victim.
Based on information from the security staff of the apartment, he said police believed that the victim had fallen from the unit that the suspect was living in.
The suspect, he said, had been living alone in the apartment.
He has a valid passport.
Police were trying to obtain CCTV footage of the area, he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
