KUALA TERENGGANU: Sixteen of the 17 Umno assemblymen, including Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman, have signed a pledge to support the present state government.
Only Kijal assemblyman Datuk Seri Ahmad Said did not sign the pledge on Tuesday. Ahmad had proposed a motion of no-confidence against his Umno colleague Ahmad Razif which was rejected by the Speaker.
Ahmad Razif told the state assembly on Wednesday that he vowed to fight any attempt to force him out or topple the Barisan Nasional state government.
"I will fight on for the people and it is my promise that I will not let you down.
"For those who have thoughts of ousting me and toppling the state government, please listen carefully. I will not bow down.
"I will continue to fight, despite facing mounting hurdles, and I will not give up," Ahmad Razif said in his winding-up speech on the final day of the sitting.
Speaking to reporters later, Ahmad Razif said 16 Umno assemblymen signed a pledge to support the present state government after the sitting.
Umno has 17 representatives in the 32-seat state assembly with the opposition holding 15.
