SEREMBAN: Datuk Seri G Palanivel, who was sacked as MIC president by a group led by his former deputy Datuk Seri Dr S Subramaniam (pic) will not be barred from entering the MIC headquarters.
Subramaniam, who has since been appointed acting president, said on Wednesday he was not prepared to use the hostile approach against his former leader.
"We will not be hostile towards him. We will remain friendly," he told reporters.
Subramaniam said he had never intended to make Palanivel's sacking a big issue.
"I wanted everything to be done amicably. There were many opportunities to have the differences between us resolved but it had to end this way," he said.
It is learnt that Palanivel is now away in Australia.
The saga began on Tuesday morning when Palanivel announced that he was suspending Subramaniam, vice president Datuk M Saravanan and 13 others for going against his orders to hold a meeting on previous occasions.
He also declared all meetings held by Subramaniam as illegal.
Hours later, Subramaniam convened another meeting and sacked Palanivel from the party.
Subramaniam said Palanivel's membership had been stripped because he took party matters to court.
He said any member who did so without approval from the party's central working committee is
automatically sacked from party.
Dr Subramaniam, who will be acting president until re-elections are held, said Palanivel's orders no longer had had any effect on the party or committtee.
