Mount Kinabalu Quake - Total 13 Bodies Found, Search for 6 more continues

Sabah Quake: Police confirm death toll stands at 13

Police have confirm the numbers of death tolls from the Mount Kinabalu quake victims currently stands at 13 bodies. It was reported that 19 climbers including a group of students did not return to the Timpohon base camp after 173 safely returned to the base camp yesterday.

District police chief Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said four more bodies were brought down today from the Laban Rata point where the search and rescue team discovered 11 bodies scattered among a piles of rubbles. "The bodies were still intact. Today we manage to bring two down by foot and two other with the help of our chopper rescue team," Farhan said adding their identities have yet to be known. 



He added during the first day quake on Friday, the SAR team found two bodies, a male climber and a 12-year old girl. He said the helicopter rescue team manage to land near the helipad area near Laban Rata point 4.20pm today after failing to do so due to bad weather. "The SAR team earlier found two bodies at 2.40pm today and had brought it down on foot," he said. He said the SAR continues for the remaining six climbers who are still considered missing.
