IGP leads King’s honours list

PUTRAJAYA: Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar will head the list of award recipients in conjunction with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah’s official birthday celebration today.
Khalid, who assumed his position as IGP last year, is the sole recipient of the Panglima Pemangku Negara (PMN) which carries the title Tan Sri.
Khalid was appointed to the top position in the police force last year.
Several MCA leaders will receive the title of Tan Sri under the Panglima Setia Mahkota (PSM) award, namely former party presidents Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek and Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat, former Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen, former Transport Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha and former Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Chor Chee Heung.
They will be joined by former Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman, deputy IGP Datuk Seri Mohd Bakri Mohd Zinin, and former deputy IGP Datuk Abdul Kudus Alias in receiving the same award.
Among corporate figures who will also receive the title of Tan Sri under the PSM award include Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB) group managing director Datuk Mohamad Salim Fateh Din, Dialog Group Berhad executive chairman and co-founder Dr Ngau Boon Keat, Malaysia Federal Datuk Council chairman Datuk Ooi Han Eng and Sunway Group deputy executive chairman Datuk Seri Razman Md Hashim.
Also getting the Tan Sri title are Malton Bhd executive chairman Datuk Desmond Lim Siew Choon, Bloomberg TV Malaysia chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Effendi Norwawi, Mamee-Double Decker (M) Bhd CEO Datuk Wira Pang Tee Chew, Kencana Petroleum Sdn Bhd CEO Datuk Mokhzani Mahathir, See Hoy Chan Holdings executive director Datuk Ir. Teo Chiang Hong, Brunsfield International Group founder/managing director Datuk Ir Gan Thian Leong and Ahmad Zaki Resources Bhd chairman Datuk Seri Raja Aman Raja Ahmad.
The Lotus Groups Of Companies chief executive officer Datuk Doraisingam Rengasamy and Johor MCA Muar division chief Tay Puay Chuan will be among those who will receive the Panglima Jasa Negara (PJN), which carries the title Datuk.
The first session of the awards ceremony is expected to take place at the Istana Negara in the morning.
