KUALA LUMPUR: Three men ran off with an automated teller machine (ATM) belonging to a bank, resulting in a loss of RM160,000 at Putra Mahkota, Putra Heights on Wednesday.
Subang Jaya OCPD, ACP Yahaya Ramli said that in the incident at about 5am, three suspects were believed to have used ropes and hooks to pull out one of the ATM machines at the bank.
"They used a van, believed to be white-coloured, to cart away the ATM in about 10 minutes," he told Bernama when contacted.
Yahaya said the suspects also escaped in another Toyota Hilux vehicle with a false registration plate.
"Based on the closed-circuit TV (CCTV) camera, two of the three male suspects were using ski masks and baseball caps and wore black or red overalls with the equipment 'ENEOS' printed on them, and were using white-coloured gloves," he said.
He said police also found 19 fingerprints at the scene of the incident.
"According to preliminary information received from members of the public, both vehicles used by the suspects headed toward the Putra Heights Toll Plaza of the Elite Expressway. We are now studying the CCTV recording at the toll plaza," he said.
Yahaya said the bank had 16 CCTV cameras, but only five CCTV cameras were focusing on the areas where the ATM machines were located. - Bernama
