DATUK Tiffanee Marie Lim is making her presence felt in the world of creativity and innovation.
And she certainly has the pedigree for the task. An appreciation of design philosophy was ingrained in her, courtesy of her father Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing, the founder and president of the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology
The proof of this can be seen in her sense of style and choreography, all displayed in the fashion shows she organises even as she holds down the positions of artistic director and associate vice-president for talent and brand development at Limkokwing University.
She took her passion a notch up by organising the first fashion show put on by a university at the London Fashion Week in early 2012.
While it is evident that fashion courses through her veins, she also has more to offer.
Tiffanee, a talented writer who has always taken an interest in literature, already has three books to her name.

The books under her name include Inspiration Personified, a compilation of thoughts and memories from national and international leaders, and diplomats paying tribute to her father; Magic – a book containing stories of Limkokwing University students from 100 countries — about their hopes, dreams and accomplishments; and Thinking With Your Heart, a coffee table collection of thoughts and quotes on the heart and spirit.
She was also the driving force for the award-winning radio programme called The Magic of Limkokwing — The World in One Place, which she directed and scripted.
Readers of Prestige Magazine voted her Most Promising Female Under 40 in 2009 when she was only 21, the youngest person ever to be nominated. She also received the Asean Master Class Award as the Emerging Woman Entrepreneur of the Year in 2010.
Fashion takes her out of the country frequently. She has managed shows in Paris and Japan, putting Malaysia on the fashion world’s map in the process.
In fact, she organised the first fashion show by a Malaysian university on the River Seine in France. The event was graced by industry heavyweights such as BCBGMax AzriaShiatzy Chen and Liberty of London. The university was also the first to put on a show sponsored by Japan Tourism to stimulate Japan-Asean trade in the Kansai International Airport in Osaka, Japan.
Trendsetting has never been far away from Tiffanee — Limkokwing Fashion Club recently became the first fashion label to be launched by a university and she serves as creative director for the brand. Limkokwing Fashion Club is a new luxury fashion label specialising in ready-to-wear apparel.
Officially launched in October last year, Lim said the brand was created by Limkokwing University to meet the wants of its students as well as for all fashionable people.
“The brand was inspired by a unique blend of urban flare and contemporary ethnic influences.
“The result of this venture is a collection of practical and glamorous outfits for the young, and is suitable the day and night,” said Tiffanee, adding that it would be a trend setter for the Malaysian and overseas markets, and further support and promote the university’s student talent in the fashion industry.
The plan for is for the to go global within a year. Indonesia welcomed the label’s showcase at Jakarta Fashion Week 2014.
To keep on top of her busy life, she is in her office as early as 9.30am and starts the day by checking her emails and following with the day’s schedule. She occasionally has early meetings and tries to complete all her scheduled meetings the same day.
She has her lunch by 12.30pm, once the meetings are over and lunch is normally sandwiches and a cup of coffee, while she completes other projects. She is always with a sketch book, just so she does not miss out on creative or inspirational ideas.
At about 1pm, Lim who loves writing, takes time off during the day to focus on her literature. She is working on another publication this year.
Lim visits the Faculty of Fashion and Lifestyle Creativity at about 3pm. As this is the department she oversees, she meets and interacts with students on ongoing events, competitions and projects by the Limkokwing Fashion Club. As, the vice president of talent and brand development, Lim visits the university’s dance, sound, music and performance arts club to engage with students.
By 5pm and later after that, Lim usually ends her day with her office team on designing, marketing, brainstorming, reviewing and working on the next collections for Limkokwing Fashion Club. She then reviews her daily schedule for the next day with them and calls it a day.
Apart from all this, Lim also has dinner with staff and contacts regularly.
