IPOH: A woman who was a victim of snatch theft died after she fell off her motorcycle in Slim River, about 70km south of here.
The victim M. Shemavarthini, 26, died at the Slim River hospital at 5.02pm due to serious head injuries on Saturday.
Tanjung Malim police chief Supt Othman Nanyan said in the 4.30pm incident, the victim was riding to the same hospital to fetch home an aunt who worked as a cleaner there.
"A man on a motorcycle who had tailed her grabbed her gold "thali" (necklace given by groom's family to the bride in a Hindu weeding) worth about about RM5,000 and the action caused her to lose control and fall off her motorcyle.
"Her helmet came off and her head hit the concrete sidewalk," he said.
He added that police had launched a manhunt for the suspect.  – Bernama
