KLANG: L/Kpl T. Thivakar, 37, who was found murdered on Tuesday, was going to meet a friend who owed him money when he was last seen by his mother.
“Last time I saw him, he said he was going to see a friend who owed him RM4,000 around 2pm that day,” M. Selama, the mother of the Bukit Aman Special Branch officer, said when met at his wake at the family home in Taman Bayu Perdana, Klang yesterday.
“However, around 3pm, he called me and told me he could not come home as his friend had not paid him.”
Fighting back tears, Selama said L/Kpl Thivakar had always wanted to be a policeman and joined as soon as he was 21 years old.
“He was always helping people in need and he was kind to everyone,” she said, adding that Thivakar was due to celebrate his birthday next month.
South Klang OCPD Asst Comm Kamarul Zaman Mamat, who showed up to pay his respects, handed a small donation to the family.
“It is sad to lose a police officer at such a young age,” he said.
L/Kpl Thivakar was found dead with two gunshot wounds to his head near Bukit Persekutuan on Tuesday.
The police have since detained a 33-year-old lance-corporal to facilitate investigations into the brutal murder.
It is believed the suspect is with the same unit as the victim.
L/Kpl Thivakar’s body was cremated at the Simpang Lima crematorium here yesterday.
Meanwhile, City CID chief Asst Comm Khairi Ahrasa said the police were close to wrapping up investigations into the murder.
He also confirmed that no further arrests were made.
