KLANG: More than 20 staff members of PKNS Holdings, including senior personnel, have been sacked with immediate effect, with no reasons given for their termination.
It is learnt that the staff members of the Selangor State Development Corporation subsidiary company, which included heads of department and senior managers, were given their marching orders Tuesday.
They were given two months' salary as compensation.
According to a source, who was among those sacked, the termination letters were handed out after a morning meeting and they were then asked to leave.
"They (PKNS) handed out the sacking letters with little regard for the livelihoods of the staff and their families.
"How am I going to put food on table for my family? After more than 20 years with the company, it is very unfair and unethical for them to do so," said the source.
The source also said that his resignation letter was signed by the chief financial officer of PKNS, and not the general manager nor Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim.
"Our appointment or terminations should only come from the general manager or Mentri Besar," he said.
Another senior staff member described his resignation as "inhumane" and an "incomprehensible act".
He also claimed that PKNS Holdings' general manager had also resigned in protest of the sackings.
The terminations follow the controversial sacking of PKR deputy president Azmin Ali as a board member of PKNS in a letter dated Jan 8.
