KUALA LUMPUR: A small arsenal of replica weapons has been seized from a house in Paya Jaras, Sungai Buloh, including one that resembled a Crossman sniper rifle.
The seizure came 10 days after two men, aged 27 and 35, were detained for selling the replica firearm.
Bernama reported that the suspects were arrested following a raid on the house next to the replica weapons’ storage area on Jan 11.
Sungai Buloh OCPD Supt Junaisi Bujang said police then raided the storage area and seized 17 replica weapons, including G36 C, M4 Carbine, Styer Aug and the Crossman Sniper.
“We also seized bullets, magazines, ghillie suits, SWAT vests as well as a weapons bag.
“Both men were working as technicians in a private company. They were buying the guns online from the United States, Taiwan and China,” he said at a press conference yesterday.
He said the weapons were sold for between RM500 and RM11,000, while some would cost up to RM30,000.
“They sell the weapons to acquaintances or those into ‘war games’,” he said, while ruling out the possibility that the guns were used in criminal activities.
Supt Junaidi said the weapons resembled the real weapons and the duo had sold more than four.
“We are tracking down the buyers. We believe the suspects have been in operation for about six months,” he said.
