KUALA LUMPUR: Immigration officers nabbed 32 foreign security guards for possessing illegal travel documents during a raid in Paradigm Mall on Thursday.
They also detained the guards’ local supervisor, a 47-year-old man in violation of the Immigration Act for sheltering them.
Immigration enforcement deputy director Abd Halim Ismail said the raiding party rounded up 51 foreigners for questioning.
All of them worked as security guards in the mall in Kelana Jaya.
“Of those questioned, 31 of them were found not having legitimate travel documents while another was found abusing his visitor’s pass. We have also detained the supervisor of the mall for knowingly harbouring the men without proper documents.
“We also confiscated their punch cards and 27 walkie talkie units,” he said.
The men have been remanded for 14 days and are being investigated under Section 6(1)(c), Section 56(1)(d) and Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Act 1959.
