China's First Lady An Elegant Style Icon Of Her Country

Peng pulls it off in style

PETALING JAYA: Peng Liyuan, the stylish wife of Chinese president Xi Jinping, proved her fashion mettle during the couple’s first official visit to Malaysia.
During their 48-hour stay, Peng was seen in several outfits which won praise from observers.
Rosemarie Wee, area communications director of Shangri-La Hotel where the couple stayed, said Peng impressed everyone with her elegance.
“She was very gracious and looked wonderful. A very classy lady indeed,”’ said Wee.
Peng, 50, kept mostly to her signature look of smart jackets and knee-length skirts.
On her arrival at KLIA on Thursday, she wore a plain blue dress with a robin-egg blue Chinese brocade jacket and a matching clutch bag (left pic).

In the evening, she chose a cream jacket over a long skirt with a delicate batik print for a dinner at Seri Perdana in Putrajaya (middle pic). At yesterday’s welcoming ceremony at Parliament House, Peng wore a vermillion red qipao with a long, loose jacket with frog buttons.
She followed up with a white dress with a geometric print and a white jacket for a concert at Istana Budaya and a visit to the Royal Selangor visitor centre in Setapak (right pic)

Peng wore yet another elegant outfit comprising a red dress with a fine linen long jacket with a classic Chinese motif when she presented Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor with a gift of a beautiful silkscreen panel with embroidered white blossoms at Seri Perdana.
All in, China’s First Lady lived up to her reputation as a style icon of her country.
