MUAR: A curtain shop worker pleaded guilty in the Sessions Court here on Sunday, to charges of rape, unnatural intercourse and sexual assault against a 13-year-old teenager last week.

According to the first charge, the man is accused of involuntarily raping a 13-year-old teenager in a Proton Persona car in front of a restaurant in a flat in Kluang.
For the second charge, he is accused of committing sexual intercourse against the laws of nature without the victim's consent while for the third charge he is accused of committing sexual assault without the victim's consent in the same place and location.
All the offenses were committed on July 8 between 8pm and 9.30pm.
For the offense of rape, the accused is charged in accordance with Section 376(2)(d) of the Penal Code which provides for a maximum prison sentence of 30 years and whipping.
For the offense of unnatural intercourse, he was charged under Section 377 of the Penal Code which provides for a maximum prison sentence of 20 years and whipping.
As for the sexual assault charges, he is accused of committing an offense under Section 14 (d) of the Sexual Offenses Against Children Act 2017 and can be sentenced to a maximum of 20 years in prison and caning.
The prosecution was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Danial Munir while the accused was not represented by a lawyer.
Earlier, Danial asked the court not to grant any bail since the offense committed by the accused is a grave and serious crime.
The judge then set July 24 as the due date and presented the facts of the case.
