Finas refused to comment on the disappointing collection issue of the Vik2ria Secret film
PETALING JAYA: The National Film Development Corporation of Malaysia (Finas) refused to comment further on the collection issue of the film Vik2ria Secret which received a Digital Content Fund amounting to RM550,000.
During the two weeks that the film directed by AR Badul was screened, Vik2ria Secret which cost a total of RM1.05 million only managed RM5,058.90 with a total of 346 people watching in cinemas.
"For now, Finas has no statement on the matter.
"We are currently reviewing it," was the simple response of Rozita Waty Ridzuan, Acting Director General of the National Film Development Corporation (Finas) when contacted by Utusan Malaysia recently.
Earlier, the film Vik2Ria Secret stole the spotlight when netizens questioned the quality and results of the script which was considered unsatisfactory despite receiving financial assistance from the government.
Not only that, Finas also received criticism when it was considered careless in screening fund recipients.
"If there are only 300 viewers, does that mean that only the premiere will come?" asked one user on the social site.
"How does Finas determine who is eligible to receive funds and how can this Vik2ria film pass the criteria for receiving funds?" ask another user.
"There are a lot of funds, but the posters are made by interns. I don't know what to be angry about," commented actor Nadhir Nasar.
Vik2ria Secret or its original title Bra Merah which displays the stories and secrets of women 'in the cloth' was shown in cinemas starting June 15.
