COVID-19: Thailand records 2,713 new cases 30 fatalities

BANGKOK, May 24 -- Thailand recorded 2,713 new COVID-19 cases and 30 deaths, over the last 24 hours bringing the total infections in the kingdom to 132,213 and 806 fatalities to date.
Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) assistant spokesperson Dr Apisamai Srirangsan said the new cases include 2,664 local transmission and 49 imported cases, including 41 Thais returning from Cambodia.
He said the new fatalities involve 20 males and 10 females aged between 28 and 105 years old including 11 in Bangkok, Nakhon Ratchasima and Ratchaburi (three each) and Samut Sakhon and Samut Prakan (two each).
“A total of 43,233 people were given their first COVID-19 shot over the last 24 hours while another 2,340 received their second shot.
“To date, Thailand has vaccinated nearly 3 million people so far,” she said at COVID-19 daily briefing here today.
The mass vaccination in Thailand is set to start on June 7 when the first batch of locally manufactured AstraZeneca vaccine is available.
