BATU PAHAT, Jan 30 -- Police are hunting for a man who is believed to have impersonated a police officer and also forcibly committed unnatural sex on a 23-year-old woman in a playground of a residential area here two days ago.
Batu Pahat District Police chief ACP Ismail Dollah said the woman lodged a report on the incident today, claiming she was contacted by a man who introduced himself as a policeman from the Batu Pahat district police headquarters (IPD).
It is understood that the victim and suspect had befriended each other on social media, and had met on a couple of occasions.
"The suspect invited the victim (woman) to accompany him to Simpang Renggam, near Kluang, to pick up a vehicle that was said to be under repair there.
"The victim then drove her own car to Taman Banang Heights, here, to pick up the suspect, who then demanded RM100 from her during the ride, on the pretext of covering the cost of repairing the vehicle," Ismail said in a statement today.
He said that while waiting for a call from a mechanic, the suspect, in his early 20s, sexually assaulted her.
Ismail said efforts to find the suspect were being carried out and urged anyone with information regarding the case to contact the Batu Pahat IPD at 07-4363300.
