COVID-19: Malaysia records in excess of 5,000 cases for third straight day

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia recorded 5,298 new COVID-19 positive cases as of 12 noon Sunday -- the third straight day of more than 5,000 cases.

The country recorded 5,278 and 5,275 cases on Saturday and Friday respectively.

The number of new cases today brings the cumulative number of positive new COVID-19 cases in the country to 214,959, with Selangor and Johor recording the highest number of cases by state, in excess of 1,000 cases.

Selangor recorded 2,460 new cases while Johor recorded 1,020 new cases.

The Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) through its Twitter account also informed that there were 14 new deaths recorded, bringing the cumulative number of deaths to 760.

The total number of recovery cases has climbed to 4,522, bringing the total number of cases recovered to 166,049.

The total number of active cases with COVID-19 infectivity was 48,150 cases, 313 of which are receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 127 of whom requiring respiratory assistance.
