KLUANG, Jan 15 -- A mother and her five-month-old daughter were killed when the car they were travelling in crashed into a tree at KM74.3 Jalan Johor Bahru-Ayer Hitam, near a petrol station in Simpang Renggam, yesterday.
Kluang district police chief ACP Low Hang Seng said preliminary investigations showed that the Perodua Myvi was heading to Johor Bahru from Ayer Keroh when it crashed while trying to avoid another vehicle at about 10.40 pm.
He identified the dead as B. Nagaranjini, 25, the front passenger, and G. Varsha.
“The driver, B. Guna, 40, who is Nagaranjini’s husband, and their son G. Trishikan, six, who was seated at the back, sustained injuries including a broken left leg and were admitted to the Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital here,” he said in a statement today.
Renggam Fire and Rescue Station chief Asyraf Nur Mohd Yusoff said they sent five firefighters to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 10.56 pm.
A victim was found trapped in the front seat while a baby had been flung out of the car, he said.
