KOTA BARU: Police have been urged to investigate an audio clip where a PAS leader claimed to have links with the United States' Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

State Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia youth chief Asran Alias said that the alleged involvement of a political leader who has admitted to cooperating with the CIA would have a negative impact on the country.

"The audio clip clearly states he has links to the CIA. This trend is worrying for citizens living in a democratic and multiracial society," he told a press conference after lodging a police report at the Kota Baru police headquarters here on Sunday (April 1).

Copies of the police report and audio clip were also distributed to the media.

In the audio clip, an individual is heard saying "Ana (I) can speak to the CIA. I know people within the US CIA who constantly communicates with me."

Asran said the involvement of foreign powers could destabilise the political harmony in the country.

"The act is tantamount to challenging the position of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong as the individual is working with foreign powers," he said.

"We are concern that such extreme influences and cultures will be brought into the country. We hope the police can investigate who is the individual behind the audio clip that has already gone viral on the social media," he said.
