KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Razak chaired a Barisan Nasional Supreme Council meeting here tonight as preparations for the 14th General Election (GE14) began to gather even more steam.

The meeting which was attended by the coalition's component party chiefs was held from 8.30pm till 11pm at Menara Dato Onn.

BN strategic communications director Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan said the meeting did not touch on seat distribution.

However, he said that the meeting was on preparations, logistics, strategies and the coalition's manifesto which is due to be unveiled on Saturday.

MIC president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam also confirmed that seat distribution had yet to be settled.

Also present was Gerakan president Datuk Seri Mah Siew Kong and MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

Umno Information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa, Wanita Umno chief Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil and Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin were also present.

All the leaders were tightlipped when the media asked them questions on the meeting.

Several parliamentary seats are being disputed by different components parties.

These include the traditional MCA seats of Wangsa Maju and Bandar Tun Razak, for which Umno grassroots leaders had expressed interest in contesting to wrest them back for BN.

Gelang Patah and Kuantan are seats which are also traditionally MCA seats that were loaned to Umno during GE13.

Meanwhile, Cameron Highlands is one seat being sought by both MIC and MyPPP.--Additional reporting by Veena Babulal. © New Straits Times
