Rolls Royce owner: My staff handled car matters

PETALING JAYA: Cosmetics millionaire Datuk Seri Aliff Syukri Kamaruzaman admits he has overlooked the road tax validity of his Rolls Royce that was impounded by the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

However, the entrepreneur, who is popularly known as “Abang Terlajak Laris”, was furious with the backlash he received from netizens.

They accused him of cheating by using a Sarawak road tax when the said vehicle is in Peninsular Malaysia.

Aliff claimed that the road tax and vehicle registration were handled by his management staff.

“Do you think I have time to buy the road tax or licence (plate)? All of these are done by my employees,” he said.

The road tax for the luxury car is around RM20,000 in Peninsular Malaysia compared with RM5,873 in Sarawak.

“Sometimes, I don’t understand what I have done so wrong until there are so many haters when I have no problem with anyone?

A Rolls Royce allegedly registered under D’Herbs Holdings Sdn Bhd, a company founded by Aliff, was among 20 vehicles impounded by JPJ during an operation in Jalan Bangsar on New Year’s Eve.

JPJ deputy director-general (operations) Datuk Wan Ahmad Uzir Wan Sulaiman had said the luxury car was rented and driven by an Australian man.
