Intrigued by the name Tiger Bay, I recently accepted an invitation to the official launch of Canopy by Tiger Bay on the 21st January 2017.
Situated at Jalan Mayang which is in the heart of the city should not be hard to find. But then again, for someone who is not familiar with the area, once you missed the turning to the building, you end up making a huge round looking for the correct road that eventually lead you to the entrance of the place. The entrance to the lounge was also quite confusing, as it was situated behind the main entrance.

As you take the elevator to the rooftop, you walk into a cozy set up with high tables located opposite the bar.
The place also offers intimate Moroccan inspired gazebos for customers who wish to be seated privately.
There is also an area dedicated to appease customer’s preference to fresh air whilst admiring a breath-taking view of the skyscrapers surrounding the rooftop.
I had the opportunity to meet one of the owners Shane Vekarai, who proudly mentioned that like their two other outlets in London and India, he was confident their Kuala Lumpur outlet will just be as successful.
Not only does the Canopy have an in-house experienced mixologist to cater to the wide variety of cocktails menu but their major selling point will be the shisha experience they have to offer. There is over 80 different flavours from across the world, each unique from the other.
These shisha will attract the affluent customers who have travelled the world only to find their favourite flavour at Canopy.
We will have to wait and see as to how Kaylians adapt to this new rooftop lounge, amidst the many cocktail bar and lounge that has mushroomed lately.
