Suspects seen in viral video of robbery arrested

PETALING JAYA: A group of robbers terrorising residents in Petaling Jaya has been busted after police arrested three suspects.

Police first learned about the group after one of the robbers, waving a fake pistol, ran past the front gate and snatched a woman's handbag as she got out of a car in the compound of her house in Seapark around 2.45pm on Dec 31 last year.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din said a video of the incident went viral on social media.
"The robbers then struck again around 4.50pm the same day. This time, an elderly woman was threatened with a fake pistol to give up her handbag and valuables near her house on Jalan 11/4E.
"Between December to February this year, we received seven police reports involving robberies outside houses, roadsides and parking lots," he said adding that robbers were seen driving a white Perodua Myvi by most of the victims.
Police launched a manhunt for the robbers, resulting the arresting of a male suspect around 11.50pm on Tuesday.
"We arrested him after spotting the white car parked at a petrol station on Jalan Klang Lama.
"After that he led us to his two accomplices at an apartment in Taman Desa Ria and Kampung Pasir Baru, Kuala Lumpur," he said to a press conference at Petaling Jaya police headquarters Friday.
ACP Mohd Zani said police recovered several stolen items including a few ATM cards and also seized the white car, which was stolen in Brickfields last year.
"All three men, aged 26 to 30, have prior criminal records related to robberies and break-ins," he said.
