KUALA LUMPUR: The LRT service suffered a glitch when one of its trains had to stop at Pasar Seni station and its passengers transferred to another train on Friday.

Scores of passengers on the morning rush to work were jolted from their seats as the train abruptly stopped on the tracks at about 8.55am soon after departing the KL Sentral station.

The train still made its way to the Pasar Seni station where the passengers were asked to get down.

RapidKL said in a tweet that "a train fault" occurred at Pasar Seni station and passengers had to be removed.

Rubaina Shokat, a 28-year-old executive, said there was smell of burning rubber in the train as it was approaching Pasar Seni station.

"We could see a light cloud of smoke inside the train. The passengers were asked to get off at Pasar Seni," she said.

Rubaina said another empty train arrived some 15 minutes later and they continued on their journey. She said the RapidKL crew were very efficient in handling the situation.
