MANILA- President Rodrigo Duterte met with former President Fidel V. Ramos in MalacaƱang on Monday where they discussed climate change and peace process issues.

Ramos, who was named as Philippine special envoy to China in July, gave up the post in October after publicly criticizing Duterte's policy statements on various issues such as the bloody war on drugs, his anti-US tirades, and climate change.
A close advisor of Duterte, Ramos was a strong supporter of the latter's presidential bid. However, following Duterte's assumption into office, Ramos became critical of the administration and said Philippines was 'losing badly' in Duterte's first 100 days.
Ramos also called out the "off-an-on statements" by Duterte and his officials on US-Philippines relations, including his tirades against US President Barack Obama, outgoing Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and the US-PH military cooperation.
"So, what gives? Are we throwing away decades of military partnership, tactical proficiency, compatible weaponry, predictable logistic and soldier-to-soldier camaraderie just like that? On President Duterte's say-so?" Ramos had said.
Duterte, for his part, has announced that he will take Ramos' advice but emphasized that he has his own way of doing things. -
