Vida Beauty boss' case set for re-mention Dec 15

IPOH: The Sessions Court here has fixed Dec 15 for re-mention of the case against beauty products entrepreneur Datuk Seri Hasmiza Othman, better known as Dr Vida, who was charged with failing to pay RM4.2mil in Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Judge Murtazadi Amran set the date Tuesday after defence counsel Khairilazwar Khalil requested for more time to go over the charges against the 45-year-old owner of Vida Beauty Sdn Bhd.
On Oct 13, Hasmiza claimed trial to 16 counts of failing to make GST payments and another 16 charges for not producing GST statements for the taxable period between April 1, 2015 and July 31, 2016.
She had allegedly committed the offences at the GST Division, Wisma Kastam, No 1, Jalan Tun Abdul Razak here.
The charges under Section 41(7) and Section 41(6) of the GST Act 2014 respectively, provide a maximum fine of RM50,000, three years' imprisonment or both upon conviction for each charge.
Hasmiza is currently out on a RM1.76mil bail.
