PUTRAJAYA: A senior police officer has been accused of building a house worth RM5.5 million in Mantin, Negri Sembilan, supposedly sponsored by heads of illegal gambling syndicates in the country.
MyWatch chairman Datuk R. Sri Sanjeevan who lodged a complaint against the officer at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) here today, claimed he has documents and photographs of the so-called 'Istana Mantin', located at Kampung Gebok in Mantin, as proof.
Sanjeevan, who is currently facing a slew of charges including forgery, cheating, defamation and money-laundering, claimed that he received the documents several months ago, supposedly from "someone in the police force."
He claimed that the documents stated that the house was wholly sponsored by heads of illegal gambling syndicates.
"So my question is: Does this house really belong to the officer? If it really belongs to him, how can he afford to build such an expensive house? Is it true that the house sponsored by illegal gambling syndicates," he asked.
He hoped the police officer would step forward and clarify the matter as soon as possible as it is a matter of integrity.
Sanjeevan also expressed hope that MACC would conduct a detailed investigation and reveal the outcome to the public, adding that MyWatch was ready to work with the commission in the investigation.
