Wan Azizah: Release Rafizi immediately

PETALING JAYA: The arrest of Rafizi Ramli on Tuesday was condemned by PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, saying that it was most likely linked to documents the Pandan MP disclosed at a press conference.
"After the documents are presented in Parliament, they will not be classified under the Official Secrets Act (OSA) anymore. Therefore, it was excessive to arrest Rafizi," said Wan Azizah.
She added in a press release on Tuesday night that PKR remains opposed to the OSA.
"PKR calls for Rafizi to be released immediately," she added, saying that Rafizi should be praised for standing up to alleged abuses of power.
Her statement follows Rafizi's arrest for offences under the OSA earlier on Tuesday.
Rafizi was arrested in front of the Parliament gate and taken to the federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar tweeted that Rafizi was arrested under the OSA, but did not provide further details.
