PETALING JAYA: Former Miss Malaysia/World 1991 Samantha Schubert passed away this evening.
Schubert, 47, died at 7.16pm at the Prince Court Medical Centre where she was being treated for cancer.
Schubert, Miss Malaysia/World 1991, was a successful model before starring in films such as Red Scorpion 2 (1994), Amok (1997), and The Red Kebaya (2006).
According to her official website, her career included numerous print campaigns and over 30 television commercials.
Actress Tiara Jacquelina on her Facebook page expressed shocked over the passing of her friend.
"Samantha was one of the members of the Kit Kat Klub show, and could dance to Paula Abdul's Straight Up like nobody else could.
"Rest with angels, laugh and dance once again dear Sam.
"May your strength live on in the beautiful children you raised. Love you much," she posted.

Messages of condolence from those who knew her are beginning to pour in on social media
Social activist Marina Mahathir posted on Facebook: “Rest in peace, Samantha Schubert… too young to go.”
She had carved her name as a model in the 1990s and was also involved in theatre.
Fellow thespian Shanthini Venugopal shared a couple of pictures together with a poem which ended with the words: “Now you’re free Sam. Fly Away.”
Schubert has three children from her marriage to Oliver Knotts; Jodie, Harry and Thomas.
