A check on a fake car registration plate led police to the arrest of two men and the seizure of a gun and drugs yesterday. This is a video of two suspects abandoned their car and ran towards a shoe store in Jalan Rahmat, Batu Pahat.
According to the news report, a police patrol unit spotted the two suspects in a car in Jalan Bakau Condong. Suspecting something amiss, policemen ran a check on the car's registration number and found it was fake. "Policemen ordered the two men to stop and come out of the vehicle, but they defied the order and sped off," said Din. A three-kilometre car chase ensued along Jalan Enggang.
The two suspects abandoned their car when the saw other police cars blocking the road. "They ran towards a row of shops in Jalan Rahmat and ended up at a shoe store, where they gave themselves up to the police," said Din.
He said one of the men carried a Beretta semi-automatic handgun with nine bullets. Batu Pahat district police chief Assistant Commissioner Din Ahmad said the two men aged 38 and 43 were arrested at noon at a shoe store in Jalan Rahmat. "The suspects are from Skudai and Pontian, and both of them have criminal records. One of them is on the wanted list," he said. Police later seized 51.7 g of methamphetamine worth about RM10,000 in a hotel room where the two suspects were staying in Jalan Bakau Condong.
Also seized were four parang, a brass knuckle and the car. They are being remanded for seven days to assist investigations. Source: http://bit.ly/1Lu79ng
